Data Entry Statistics

Attendees:

Overview:

Current Data Entry Statistics (https://github.com/openmrs/openmrs-module-dataentrystatistics) was originally created to provide quick view of data entry clerks' productivity (number of encounter forms entered and average obs per encounter form entered).  The UI for specifying the report criteria was updated in 2012 to include providers for Encounter User option and Orderers for Order User option.  However, implementations need to have more options to specify the report criteria as well as output reports.

Needs:
  • Include criteria for Districts (for health facilities) so that it can filter out limited list of locations (for health facilities) under the selected districts
  • Allow to choose one or more districts and locations
  • Allow different reporting time frame to includes a) specific date ranage and b) calendar months
  • Generate three output reports

Discussions:
  • Pros:  Quick and straightforward
  • Cons: It might run into issues of more extensions might not be as simple/easy.
  • Should the new data entry statistics be created through reporting framework?
  • Pros:  It's more powerful and easy to expand for future versions.  Also, it will be maintained by the community.
  • Cons:  It will take longer time to research/learn and also might need to additional development work.

 Suggestions:
  • If extending from existing data entry statistics, we should keep in mind for possible additions like to include other types of reports (e.g. Daily Statistics by Encounters).
  • Post on OpenMRS Talk and ask for feedback from other audience who could not attend the Design Call.

Updates from FGH Mozambique Team on June 13, 2017:
  • After internal discussions, we decide to build the extension from the existing data entry statistics codes instead of using reporting module due to resources constraints.  We will submit pull requests once we are done.
