You will also receive instructions to setup and use mobile tools for OpenMRS, such as mUzima, ODK Clinic, iOS & Android clients, OpenMRS-jr. We will cover topics such as device management, data collection, form management, modular approach to mobile tools and strategies to successfully scale the use of these tools. This tutorial is meant for individuals who are planning mHealth initiatives linked to OpenMRS

AngularJS & REST Web Services 101

OpenMRS software development is moving towards building web components that can work with each other, instead of being part of the Java module framework. Since the release of the webservices.rest module, we have focused on improving the REST resources so that we have a complete API that is accessible over HTTP and developers with different language skills can contribute. This tutorial will provide instructions on how to use the OpenMRS REST API to build custom user interfaces using modern/popular tools. Most efforts in the community have focused on using AngularJS, and we'll showcase some of the "best practices" in AngularJS development.

Extending & Customizing OpenMRS

In this full-day tutorial, you will learn how to extend OpenMRS's features and customize it for specific needs. Topics covered include Program management, workflows, reporting for stakeholders, clinical functions, and administration tasks. You will also learn to build basic add-on modules to extend OpenMRS functionality, and how to work with other module projects to improve them. We will look at development practices and "best practices" in OpenMRS module development such as using the SDK, using pre-built concept dictionaries and defining roles/privileges for the reference application. The tutorial will be useful for new developers, new implementers and for community members who want to look at the coolest/greatest modules for customizing OpenMRS. It might also be useful for people who want to get new ideas for modules.

OpenMRS Concept Management

Concepts are core metadata to capture data and manage information in OpenMRS. With some of the new initiatives like Open Concept Lab, metadata sharing module, maternalconceptlab.com, CIEL/MVP dictionary etc., management of concepts in OpenMRS has become convenient. In this half-day tutorial, you will learn about different approaches to manage concepts in OpenMRS. You could create own dictionary, adopt another dictionary, improve and add-on to another dictionary. This tutorial is targeted towards new implementers, developers who work on metadata management as well as implementers who are looking at features in OpenMRS to customize for different medical practices and departments.

Getting Data Out

Once patient has been captured in OpenMRS, the next step towards improving systems of care is to analyze and understand that data. OpenMRS provides a number of reporting and analysis features that allow you to analyze data by creating patient cohorts, aggregate reporting, disease profiles etc. In this tutorial, you will learn how to build & customize reports for OpenMRS users & stakeholders. You will learn basic approach how to send aggregate data to other systems, but the primary goal of the tutorial is to showcase the features from the reporting module.

The highlight of Worldwide Summit is our 2.5-day conference, where OpenMRS leaders and contributors will share new strategies, new technologies, and new ideas with each other in an interactive setting. The conference agenda will include plenary talks, smaller breakout talks, and unconference sessions.

OpenMRS Inc. offer a travel grant program for volunteer contributors to attend key events throughout the year. Event registration does not include meals. A food court with a wide variety of cuisine options is available in the SMU underground concourse which connects all buildings, and countless restaurants, food centres, and shopping establishments are all available within a few minutes' walk from SMU.

Payment is due at time of registration by credit card. Alternative offline arrangements via bank transfer may be arranged. Offline payments not received before the event will result in cancelled registrations, and the attendee will not be admitted.
