OpenMRS Concept Source Registry

All implementations of OpenMRS should be assigned a globally unique implementation name. An implementation is defined as any server or set of servers sharing the same concept dictionary.

NOTE: sharing a dictionary means that changes to the dictionary are made on one server and distributed to any other servers. If concepts are allowed to be created on two servers, then those servers should not share an implementation name.

Names should be 20 characters or less (to meet the HL7 specification). Initial values for this set were drawn from HL7 2.5 Table 0396 in hopes that we will not create OpenMRS implementation names that conflict with existing standards.

The globally unique implementation name is kept in the global_property openmrs.implementation.name and is used as the concept_source.name for mapping of concepts between systems and/or existing standards as well as for import/export of concepts between systems.
